Listened to a deep teaching today, it touched my heart in a different way.
When we go to church, we are looking for how can the church serve me. Feed my soul, give me some spiritual food for the week.
But how do we as individuals serve Jesus? God? The Church?
In 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, it talks about how we all received the same spirit and form part of the body of Christ. If you are a hand, you cannot all of a sudden refuse to be a hand. Ephesians 1:23 talks about The Church is Christ’s body. If we have a healthy Church, it is the body of Christ. It hit me deep…
You may ask, but. I am not significant. How can I help? Help with serving, cleaning, cooking. Anything that is needed in church. Our pastor even mentioned praying before service and asking if there is a bible verse that can help the service today.

We have grown too accustomed to the worldly. ways. The world teaches us me, me, me. Me, myself and I. If the Church doesn’t fill MY need, I need to find a different Church. If my friend doesn’t serve MY need, I’m not going to talk to her. The world teaches us to run away from serving others above ourselves, even to run from putting God first. We should be asking, how can I serve God, how can I help my Church to stay healthy.
When we get offered a better salary in a different town, country. Is our first research if there is a healthy church? A healthy community (body) of the church. Unless if you are going to open a church there, how will it influence your life, your spiritual life if you are going to an unhealthy Church.
But we need to ask, if I serve my ways and my beliefs, where will that bring me,us? Didn’t Jesus die on the cross for us, to have an eternal life with him in heaven. He loved us so much that he gave his life for us. Could you do that? Give your life for a world that is sinful in nature? Does this world we live in today even recognize a big, huge sacrifice like that ?
We are so stuck in our ways, our beliefs. We want to do things our way and no one else’s way. In Mark 3 they talk about how Jesus healed the man's hand on the Sabbath and how the Pharisees walked away and plotted Jesus’s death. How would you react if someone made you question your beliefs and how you do things?
But yet all Jesus is asking is for you to accept him, join a healthy bodied church and give some of your “gifts” and time to the church. To help it grow and to be a healthy body to reach more souls and to grow the gospel of the Lord.
How will you choose to serve the Lord and his body in the Church?
Bless your heart and spread the love of the Lord!
