As Brandon Lake's Song "That's who I praise" says. I wanna dance like David!

Being a person who loves to move and dance, it always felt so unnatural to stand still like a statue in a church when praising our Lord. So to say I was super excited to be in Gospel Central Church, in Lusaka, Zambia, where on the 1st day I went to see someone dancing in Church, I knew I was home.

Saying that, it has taken me about two months to overcome the fear of moving in Church and overcoming the indoctrination of years of not moving in Church.

Besides me talking about dancing for the Lord, there are many bible versus that talk about dancing for the Lord.

  1. Psalm 149:3

" Let them praise his name in the dance: Let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. "

  2. Ecclesiastes 3:4

" A Time to Weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance; "

  3. Psalm 30:11

" Thou has turned for me my mourning into dancing: Thou has put off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness; "

  4. Jeremiah 31:13

" Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance. Both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow. "

  5. Psalm 150:4

" Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. "

  6. Exodus 15:20

" And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the woman went out after her with timbrels and with dances. "

  7. Jon 21:11

" They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance. "

  8. 2 Samuel 6:14-16

" And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. So David and all the house of Isreal brought up the Ark of the Lord with shouting and witht he sound of the trumpet. And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart. "

So here I am, asking you. What is holding you back, what is holding you back to express your love and joy for the Lord.

We dont have to be perfect dancers, we dont have to look like a gracious water nimph. But when you feel like you want to dance, and express your joy for the Lord. Put on that music, sing with and dance to your hearts content.

Stay blessed and stay awesome,
